DWP continues to thrive with Crown Hosting

We are delighted to announce that The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has signed a contract extension with Crown Hosting Data Centres (CHDC). An agreement which to date, has empowered DWP to re-invest and accelerate its digital transformation plans.

DWP signed its first contract with CHDC in 2015 to procure one data centre room. A further three more contracts were agreed in 2016, with an aim to ‘provide a secure, flexible, efficient and cost-effective route to the cloud’. This most recent extension is a fitting testimony to the ongoing relevancy and effectiveness of the agreement.

Crown Hosting enables DWP to maintain complete control of their estates while having the freedom and flexibility to change and adapt between a systems and cloud-based approach.

DWP has also been clear that a further motivation to extend, is whilst their current asset refresh and continued migrations will see efficiencies in delivery and optimisation over the coming years, it reflects the number of applications that need to remain in the data centres due to CHDC’s unique security capability. Others however will become obsolete during their tenure, which is why the versatility of the facilities remain a key strategic requirement for the foreseeable future.

“We are delighted that our work with DWP is as relevant today as when it first began in 2015. The nature of our agreement is successful partly because it’s not prescriptive but a commercially flexible model which provides clear freedom of choice.

We are equally proud to support DWP in its ability to dynamically provision IT platforms appropriate to the needs of the business”

– Simon Burrage, CEO, Crown Hosting Data Centres.

The 5-year extension begins on June 1st 2021.
