In partnership with Crown Hosting Data Centres Limited, DCD Europe brings together UK IT government leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities of delivering and procuring IT services via shared data center facilities.
The newly-established Crown Hosting Data Centres Limited, a joint venture between Ark Data Centres Limited and the Cabinet Office, aims to drive transformational changes across the provision of government data center services.
“In this new era of hybrid IT, IT leaders are increasingly under pressure to solve their critical data storage challenges, avoiding hardware lock-in and continue to deliver new innovations and cost-effective services to end-users. Our hyper-connected world requires us to look at data center infrastructure requirements from a holistic point of view” says George Rockett, CEO of DCD Group.
“The event brings together top industry experts across storage, virtualisation, hyperconvergence and hybrid cloud solutions, with the likes of Cisco, Tintri, Nimble Storage, Simplivity, HP, Cisco, Vmware and Sungard ready to share their expertise and innovations with the audience”.
DCD Converged Europe
Crown Hosting Data Centres promises energy efficiency, ‘utility’ usage model, flexible contracts and the same SLAs offered by the rest of the industry, enabling as-a-Service providers to conduct business with the UK government in a more simplified manner.
“The joint venture company will simplify the data center services selection process in government and further drive the unbundling of large legacy contracts,” explained Steve Hall, CEO at Crown Hosting Data Centres Limited.
The CHDC hosted panel in November, alongside IT leaders from the Department for Work and Pensions and the Home Office and Genomics England, will outline the government’s infrastructure requirements in the “cloud first” era and debate the challenges of government use of cloud services for public service delivery.
Hybrid cloud and open-source in the spotlight
Key topics at the event centre on hybrid cloud and open-source technologies. Enterprises are increasingly implementing hybrid architectures whilst the UK government has an official policy of supporting open standards and open-source in order to create agile development environments and rapidly scaled infrastructures. The “Open” organisations such as the Open Compute Foundation, Linux Foundation, OpenDaylight and OPNFV will be represented at the event, providing case studies and debating the future of open-source powered IT infrastructures.
“DCD is a platform which connects IT visionaries and stakeholders from public and private organisations, enabling them to discover new innovations and exchange best practices on procuring and delivering IT services” adds Rockett
