Launching Crown Hosting Data Centres

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is responsible for equipping government with the right technology to deliver great digital services. Last week, Liam Maxwell published a blog about “Launching Crown Hosting Data Centres”.

It reads, “Today I’m pleased to confirm that we have created a joint venture – Crown Hosting Data Centres – with Ark Data Centres and signed a framework contract with the joint venture, to deliver legacy hosting services.”

The blog goes on to give some detail on how this fits with government’s cloud strategy, and also covers:

  • Legacy infrastructure and how Crown Hosting Data Centres assists where government technology is not suitable for the cloud
  • Which government agencies and departments are covered by the framework
  • How pricing and terms in the framework are more competitive than those that could have been individually procured
  • That the shared facilities can greatly reduce energy costs, and
  • Details of the central government agencies that have already committed to framework.

If you would like to read the rest of Mr Maxwell’s blog, you can find it here.
